This is an incredible chair for the price... I've been shopping around for a new chair awhile now and decided to go with the Alera, high-back (it was only a couple bucks more for than the mid-back). Words can't describe how satisfied I am with the chair - very easy to assemble, looks and feels just as good as other $500 chairs. This chair is excellent. The other reviews I read were very helpful, because they were correct about the height. Don't buy this chair for anyone under 6 feet tall. I'm about 6'1" and the lowest setting on this chair is the most comfortable and ergonomic for me. The tilt adjust is a great feature as well; I can easily switch between a harder working tilt and a more casual surfing the web tilt.
The one bad thing about this chair was the assembly. I didn't find the instructions hard to follow, but getting the chair into the correct positions was fairly difficult. I'd recommend having another person around to help with assembly.

Anyway, This chair gets an A- overall from me.

I wanted a nicer/newer, more high-backed chair for my computer room. I really didn't feel like trudging through the snow for one, so I read and reread the reviews here before settling on this chair.
The delivery was very quick - about 2 days, and the chair was fully boxed and wrapped with no chance of harm from the elements. It came with directions and a little tool to help tighten things up - both were satisfactory. I would suggest a helper for the installation, especially the last part concerning the chair-back. Being new, the chair is sort of stiff and inflexible, and it is awkward getting the last piece to fit, but it all took less than a half-hour.
Reviewers here wrote of the seat being high off of the ground, and that is one reason that I purchased it. At 6' tall, it is perfect for my feet being flat on the ground. My wife is 5'9" and she just about gets hers to the ground, but has no complaints. We use the lowest setting - it will raise higher if you need it.
The chair does everything - raise, swivel,tilt,roll, and also "locks" straight up. The head rest is pretty high - it is about to the bottom of my head. You do have to lean back to actually use the head rest. The seat is long enough to go under most of my upper legs, which is a nice plus.
I am 210lbs and the chair is quite sturdy enough for me. Fit and finish are excellent with no squeaks or rattles. I really like the 'faux" leather. The chair has a "firm comfortableness" about it. It is very much padded, but is not "pillowy" or "super soft."
For around $130 with free (and fast) shipping, I am extremely satisfied with this chair, and I highly recommend it.

It can be difficult to find reasonably priced office chairs for tall, slightly heavy-set men. I sent this one to my 6'2", 70+ dad for xmas, and he loves it. The chair arrived soon after order. He found assembly easy and the chair comfortable. He sits at his desk long hours daily and loves the chair.

The delivery of this item was right on time. When I opened the box all the parts were neatly placed inside. Putting it together was a breeze ( 15 mins )

It's certainly a big and tall chair which is exactly what I was looking for. 5 stars for it's easy installation, height, comfortable, and best of all fast free shipping.

As a big guy I love this chair. Nice high back, and the very wide seat is higher off the ground than any other chair I've ever had.

Negatives:

* Chair was obviously repackaged. The wheel assembly was scuffed and showed sign of use. The rest of the chair seems new and untouched.
* Not the easiest chair to put together, required some brute force to assemble. But hey, it's a chair for big guys so manhandling it is something you can do, right?

Positives:

* BIG chair, High Back. Leather.
* Very economical, enough so that I could over look the scuffed base. Hey, the base will get scuffed soon any way. Well worth 127 bucks.

I purchased this chair last week . The delivery was right on time and it was very easy to put together, all the needed tools and instruction were in the box.

This is a very good chair for the money. Sturdy, comfortable and perfectly balanced.
I highly recommend this model if you spend a lot of time at your desk like I do.
The padded arm rests come in handy when I have my feet up on the desk with my keyboard in my lap.

If you are looking for a chair in this price range, this one will not disappoint you. I highly recommend it.

The chair is very comfortable and seems well made. It's definitely a "big and tall" chair, with an emphasis on the "tall". I'm 5'10 and my feet can only just lay flat on the ground with the chair at its lowest setting. Fairly easy to put together, had my son help me with holding the back in place while I screwed the back, seat and arms all together. Wish they would give you a bigger tool for the screws as it can be a little bit of a knuckle-buster but I've seen much worse. I do recommend the chair, unless you're shorter than I am then you may want to look for one that sits lower.

I spent 3 days looking for chairs online and at local office supply stores and I just couldn't find one that was comfy without costing me a small fortune.

So seeing how I am 6ft 1 inch and after reading all the reviews regarding the "tall friendliness" of this chair, I thought I would give it a whirl.

First off, let me say "Kudos" to the seller. If everything I purchased online came as quickly as this chair, my postman would need a vacation, not to mention it was packed well so no damage and all the parts were included.

The chair itself is sturdy and quite comfy. I love the plush look and feel of the seat cushion and back support, which are rather important when you code websites for 8+ hours a day.

I would disagree with most of the reviewers that state this chair is perfect for anyone over 6ft, that all depends on how you sit in your chair. I'm not the "lean back" type. I don't like to put my feet on my desk and kick back, nor do I like to drop my wireless keyboard into my lap and tilt my chair backwards, so if you are looking for a chair that will allow you to do that and actually put your head on the headrest, I don't think you can do it unless you're a tad under 6ft. The headrest came to about the base of my neck, so if I wanted my head to touch the chair I would have to bend my neck back or slouch down a bit, neither good options if you have a bad back or wishing to work ergonomically.

Assembly for the most part was a snap - the arm rests need a little manipulating when you are tightening the screws, as previously described it works best if you do it like you are tightening the lug nuts on a tire wheel.

This is by far a much better quality chair that is replacing the one I purchased at my local office supply, a chair that cost more than this one.

All-in-all, I am very pleased that this is the one I decided to purchase, great chair for a great price - just be aware that it's not really "tall" friendly if you like to lean back and place your head on the rest without bending it backwards or slouching down.

Overall the chair has very good support and after a month of everyday use the foam has not broken down either in the back or the seat area. The only item is the limited tilt back the chair gives. sometimes you just want to lean back and this chair only gives a 20 degree max angle of tilt. Overall a good value and very sturdy.

I bought this because my employer was too cheap to replace my worn out desk chair and I didn't want to spend a lot. It was a bit of a bother to put together, but not too bad. The only tool you need, an allen wrench, is included. The chair works well for my tall frame and looks pretty nice. The seat cover material feels soft and leather like, but it doesn't breathe very well. I think it's a real bargain for the price.

The chair arrived within two days. For assembly I recommend purchasing a hex driver. The supplied Allen wrench is very tiring on the hands. There's knee tilt adjustment. Lumber support is OK. Adjusted with additional lumbar support for additional comfort. Overall I like the chair.

After spending $120 a year buying a new office chair, somehow hoping they would be of a decent quality, i can finally say this is it. Every year they are flimsy, poorly made plastic pieces of rubbish that degrade and pop apart after a few months. This chair was so heavy in box, that when it arrived i had to take the parts out to get it up the stairs. Very sturdy. Very comfortable. Definitely for tall people. Im 6'7" and its great. Highly recommended.

Just put together the chair, and sitting in it as I review.

**In no way is this an originally $350 chair**
- If you're thinking: "Wow, what savings!" Don't. Office chair prices are so inflated to begin with.

**Shipping is price too high if you live in Southern CA.**
- The shipping warehouse is literally 2 miles from where I live, and I still paid $37.01 shipping on an $86.35 purchase. Had I been able to find out where it was, I would have gone to pick up the chair. Better yet, how about Shoplet moderate their shipping price according to region? The good thing is that I got it the next day.

OK, all that aside, the chair is of good build (made in China, like all things, so Tea Party patriots beware).
- The material is flat black faux leather. Nice quality.
- Plastic parts where warranted for the price; Steel where necessary, so no surprises.
- If you've assembled anything before, assembly is straight forward; you don't even need the instructions.
- The seat has nice raised padding on both sides for your thighs, and the lumbar support is good.

Other reviews have mentioned this is for a tall person, but I'm 5'6" and at the lowest height my feet are flat on the floor. The headrest reaches the top of my head. Perfect.
Others have mentioned difficulty in assembling the armrests: The key is to thread the screws loosely and make sure you push down on the part that screws into the chair back: The back has metal grommets that the screws go into, so if you push in and tighten those first(reasonably) then you'd have no problems. It then becomes a matter of even tightening all around.

I'm happy with the chair, but I won't buy from Shoplet again. They seem to be another e-tailer (why so many?) that "saves" you money on the price only to take it all back in shipping.
If you live in Southern California, it's worth your time to find out if the warehouse is near you. The latest price on this chair is $75, not including $50 shipping!!! What??!!

I am not sure where the hype around this chair came from. It is a decent chair, but by no means a "really good" chair.

I have had this chair for a few months now and it has stood up to daily use pretty decently. The padding is OK, and durability feels OK, the pleather feels smooth, and the chair itself feels light and maneuverable.

What makes me give this a 4 out of 5 is that the pleather used for the chair itself feels thin, and while it has not ripped yet, I've seen chairs with this material rip at work, a little too easily. Just one accidental poke of the keys will start an irreversible tear, just a warning.

So, in conclusion, it is an OK chair. Do not believe the hype of some of these reviews, I don't know what they're judging this chair against.

22.) Big and Tall Beware

I just completed assembly of the chair and am a little disappointed and moderately perspired.

Shipping was extremely quick, I received my item in about 36 hours which is pretty phenomenal. All the components were in great shape despite the cardboard packaging appearing to have soaked up a pretty considerable amount of moisture in transit.

Assembly was pretty straightforward and took me about 15 minutes. The previous reviews are correct in that some man-handling is required.

The chair feels pretty solid and the build quality is above average. My major complaint however, is that the chair is much smaller than I had anticipated based on the reviewer advice that only folks over 6' tall should give this chair a go. I'm about 6'3 / 240 lbs and when sitting up straight with my back against the lumbar the headrest only comes up to about the middle of my neck. This is disappointing for me as I really liked the looks of that headrest. If I were a little shorter in the torso however, I still think you would have to lean back your head enough that it would not be comfortable regardless. The seat can be raised considerably, I don't even need the tallest setting for my feet to sit naturally on the floor. However, I don't feel the back is nearly high enough nor the chair really wide enough to be considered a B&T item. (Which is isn't marketed as anyway)

I do feel the chair presents great value at the $127 with free shipping, it's just not really a great fit for me.

This chair was delivered within 2 days of ordering it and I order on Sunday for which I give an A+ for. I'm 6'-2" and found the back height of the chair fell short of my desired length, my shoulders were not supported. The back support also came up short for my lower back and my wife's who is 5'-7". I bought this because of the other reviews and price but would recommend not buying a chair online unless you are able to it out before hand. I'm returning the chair not because of defect because of it's shortcomings for my needs which consitutes a restocking, pickup, and delivery fee. Add that fee to the purchase cost and I definitely would have done better locally because of the available sales. Side note, returns must be in orginal packaging just the way it arrived or it won't be accepted (as told to me by the seller even though the chair ships back to the manufacture). I mention this because the disassembly of the hydraulic piston from the base and tilt bracket you attach to the chair seat can be a problem to do without causing damage; the seller has notified the manufacture to contact because of this.

This chair is comfortable for the back. However I wouldn't recommend it to anyone less than 6 feet tall since the height adjustment doesn't go very low. You feet wouldn't lay flat on the floor, which is not very good ergonomics. I returned the chair for this reason.

I was surprised when the item arrived on my doorstep 2 days after I ordered it. A+ for fast shipping. However, the stupid thing took over an hour to assemble and when I first sat down in this chair, I was disappointed because it simply is not comfortable.

The back is at an awkward angle and you can't adjust it very much. The headrest doesn't support my head unless I make it support my head (I have to really lean back in order for my head to even touch the headrest).

I bought this chair based on all the good reviews. THE GOOD REVIEWS ARE MISLEADING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are thinking about spending this much on a chair, go to the store and try one out before you buy!

Now I have to decide if I want to go to the trouble of disassembling the stupid thing and try to return it.
